ABOUT US
ABOUT US
What began as a student-led initiative has grown into a youth-powered platform engaging young Indians across 30+ campuses worldwide to think, write, and debate on Indian foreign policy. We build independent spaces for public dialogue, empower future leaders, and lead capacity-building programs that fight back against rising hyper-nationalism and jingoism in IR.

WHY WE EXIST
The Indian Foreign Policy Project was born from both concern and conviction. Concern that foreign policy discourse in India was elitist, shallow and shaped by the winds of jingoism that plagues social media. Conviction that young people, who will live with the consequences of India's decisions, deserve the space to understand, question, and shape them. What began in 2024 as a student-led initiative has grown into a youth-powered organisation supported by a thriving community with a clear purpose: to widen access to international relations and cultivate independent, critical engagement with India’s role in the world.
At IFPP, we work at the intersection of policy reforms, education, and public dialogue. We publish independent writing, convene conversations with policymakers and practitioners, and host programs that equip young people to engage seriously with foreign policy and peacebuilding. Our work spans long-form research, speaker series, cross-border dialogues, and educational initiatives that reach students across campuses and communities, especially those traditionally excluded from policy spaces.
We do not claim to speak for young people; we create the structures through which they can speak for themselves. IFPP is a bridge between elite classrooms and policy debates, between emerging voices and established institutions. Our goal is not only to critique how foreign policy is discussed today, but to help build the intellectual infrastructure for a more open, informed, and inclusive global future.
And we are just getting started.
Youth-centric. Non-partisan. Inclusive.
HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT
At IFPP, we build spaces for independent thinking, dialogue, and action.

Start with Questions
We begin by identifying the questions young people are asking about India’s role in the world: across conflict, diplomacy, economics, and global governance. These questions shape our writing, programmes, and conversations.
Build Platforms for Critical Thinking
We create accessible platforms, magazines, dialogues, and workshops, where young people can research, write, and think independently, guided by experts and mentors.
Create Open Dialogue
Through speaker series, fireside chats, and public discussions, we bring students, scholars, policymakers, and practitioners into conversation, bridging experience with emerging perspectives.
4. Connect Ideas to Policy
We work with various stakeholders to advance critical education around International Relations, right from local schools to colleges.
5. Work right from the Grassroots
As artificial intelligence and digital disinformation impact the Indian diaspora, IFPP works directly with school students through workshops, campaigns, and fellowships to build critical media literacy and informed engagement.
6. Build Capacity, Not Consensus
IFPP does not aim to produce agreement. We aim to build the skills, confidence, and intellectual tools young people need to think critically, disagree constructively, and lead responsibly.
Through partnerships with leading think tanks and civil society organisations, IFPP opens direct access to the policy world. We frequently facilitate attendance at high-level panels and roundtables hosted by institutions such as the India International Centre (IIC), the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), and CSDR.
Recent highlights include participating in ORF’s Raisina Dialogue, British Council conferences, and the 50th Sapru House Lecture featuring Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim.
